Missing something important?

So I wanted to make some burgers for dinner and we had no buns....hmmmm what to do? Here was my improvisation and man...it was GOOD!

I had some of the frozen bread dough in the freezer. Thawed it. Cut it into four pieces....

I figured, since we were having burgers why not some hot dogs too? (hindsight, these hot dog buns could have made four each instead of 2 but oh well, they were great!)

Bake them off @ 350 degrees until golden and sounding hollow when tapped. Put aside.

Now, for your hamburger mix:

3 Onion Burgers

1/4 cup white onion, chopped
1/4 cup red onion, chopped
1/4 cup green onion, chopped
1 lb. ground beef
1 tsp. hickory salt
1 tsp. liquid smoke
1 tsp. salt

Saute your white and red onions. Put your green onions UNCOOKED with your beef in a large bowl.

Add your seasonings, then mix and form into patties (this made 4 large patties, I put two of them in the freezer for another day)

Normally, I would have had K-man cook these on the grill but it was raining tonight and I didn't want my sweetheart in the wet!

Not to worry about a dry burger for the onions provide plenty of moisture! Now go get your buns and stack up the good stuff you like on your burger...

Swiss and some sauteed mushrooms (I found these in the freezer section, so convenient!)
Crusty on the outside, yeasty and soft on the inside...stringy cheese with a tender oniony burger with smoky flavor from the salt and smoke....oh so good....

Lastly, here's the pair....If you are wondering about the hotdog....call us weird but we like fresh onions and mayo on our hotdogs....LOL....

I know I made a good dinner choice when he comes to get his plate and sees his dinner for the first time does this half 'mmmmm' and half growl thing. I wish I could only have a sound byte of it on here. LOL Personally....I could not finish my dinner...I could only manage half of the burger and dog (that is fine, they became my lunch the next day) but K-man on the other hand.....scarfed both of those down and some broccoli!

Jenny I have to say that those "buns" look incredible!! Mayo on hotdogs? Call me weird also, because that actually sounds delicious! Have a great weekend...
